Features

No Registration

Twittaw makes use of a Twitter ID to assign your username, transfer your details and eliminate the need of registrations. Twittaw uses the Twitter OAuth Login form so that means your password never leaves Twitter side.

No 140 Characters Limit

You can write notes that can be as long you need them to be.

Twitter integration

Everything you do in Twittaw is shared to Twitter by default. The first 100 characters of your note or comments will be shared and the 40 character left are used to shortlink and mark the tweet. The short link in the tweet then will direct to the corresponding Twittaw Thread the Note or Comment belongs to.

But you can filter and disable all sharing if you want to. The way you filter out your content from Twitter is by adding a " ~ "(glide) anywhere in the text of your notes and comments.  You can also disable the sharing of your Comments via the Settings section. You can access them if you go to your Me stream. That is where all your notes are aggregated.

Once disabled, your comment will not be shared to Twitter unless you want to. You can selectively share a comment to Twitter by adding a " ` " anywhere in the text of your comment.

(These notes are using the " ~ " so they are not shared to Twitter)

Friends

You can add Friends to Twittaw by creating a Twitter List named "Twittaw" on your Twitter account. Right now you can only add up to 20 friends, but this limit is temporary. Once you have finished your Twitter list, just relogin to Twittaw and any time your friends post a note, these updates will be tracked in the Friends section.

Post Form

Threads

Twittaw is all about conversations and these start with notes you post into Twittaw. Notes can be commented and these comments  are then added into a Thread. That is the easiest way to track your conversations and that is why threads are the focus of Twittaw.

Activity Tracking

Everything in Twittaw is activity based and all you activity is tracked so you can easily follow what you have posted and what you commented.  All of this is tracked in the Home page. In the case of what you comment, once you comment on someone else note, that note thread is tracked regardless if you comment again or not in that thread. Simply because your activity already dictated that that Thread is important because you commented on it.

Time Marked

Twittaw Notes and Comments are Time Marked in a very concise way so you aware of how long ago  a note or comment was posted.

Me

Everything a Twittaw user posts is added into their user stream that is called the "Me" page. You can access anyone user stream just by clicking in some picon (Photo Icon) or username link while on a stream. A user stream link is also easy to remember because it will look this way:

http://twittaw.appspot.com/user/username

Full Linking

Given there is no 140 characters limit, there is no need for you to use url shorteners unless you really want to.

Photo Embedding

You can embed pictures simply by linking to its file url:

EX: http://_photolink_.png

That will then be automatically converted into a embedded photo

(The photo needs to be already hosted somewhere online)

Video Embedding

You can embed any NicoVideo or YouTube video just by linking to its video url

EX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUB_sKWvZ_4 or http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9393658

That will then be automatically converted into a embedded video

Formating and Styling

Notes are rendered exactly like you write them in the post form. Beyond that you can also style your notes to look even better with some simple styling markup as shown below:

*italic*
**bold**
__underline__
~~strike~~

So you can format and style a note as much or as little as you want it.

Editing

The edit function is a very important feature in Twittaw. It is the way to let you correct or erase a note. Since there is no Delete. Editing is the way to solve and amend while using Twittaw. Every edit done to a note or comment is time marked so there is no room of confusion.

Correct in the case you made a mistake like a typo or a broken link

Strike using styling in the case you want to correct something without rewriting or erasing it.

Erase in the case what you wrote is no longer something you want to share

Last Comment In

Displays the last comment in a Note Thread.

Translate

In the case a note is not in your native language,  every note and comment counts with automatic translation.

Reply To

As a way to make conversations even easier to follow, Reply To is a way to autofill the comment form in a thread with the username of the person you are replying to and the comment number in a thread so it can be quickly noted to what and who you are replying. Also a simple way to avoid misunderstandings and confusions.

Unread Highlighting

Whenever a new note is posted or a new comment is added into a thread. These will be considered as Unread unless you are inside a thread. So a yellow highlighting is assigned to the note to make that stand out.

Stream Notifiers

These count up the unread notes in Home and Friends respectively and separately.

Title bar notifier

This counts up all the unread notes in general.

Tags

Hashtags (#example) are a way to mark a certain subject/theme to a note. Then all notes marked with a hashtag will be aggregated into their own stream. You can mark a note with a hashtag right from the time you post it or after via a comment where you just add the hashtag desired. Once you do, the note will be marked with the hashtag and these will also serve as links to access a hashtag stream.

The way to access the hashtags being used in Twittaw and their corresponding streams is via the Tags section you will see as the fourth section if you are in the Friends or the Public stream.

The Tags section tracks your tags and all the public tags being used in Twittaw in general.

Once you use a Tag, that tag will be added to a selector in the Post Form. That way you don't have to remember all the tags you have used in Twittaw from the top of your head as they will then be tracked for you that way so you can easily reuse them again.

(You can disable and enable Growl from the Settings section)
