About

Twittaw is the latest project from YungSang, that previously created and developed Rejawoo (app for Rejaw.com) and FriendFoo (Friendfeed.com client).

Twittaw is a Google App Engine based application that got the purpose remaking the functionality and style of the now defunct Rejaw.com in the same way Rejawoo used to do. Rejaw was a Real-Time Social Messaging Network in the very same basis of Pownce.com (Also Defunct) and Simler.com (Active and new). While that is the initial motivation and said service served for inspiration, there is no shared code between them at all. Twittaw is a new standalone project.

Like in its platonic predecessor, Twittaw focus is based around full conversations. Everything revolves around Threaded Notes. Every post in the app made by a user can be commented and followed via its assigned thread url. The visibility and usability of those threads is activity based and updated in a semi-real time fashion. This means that if someone comments in a note, the thread jumps back to the top of the page again regardless of when the Note was originally posted. The format effect could be seen as a mix of a Forum, a Chat Board and a E-mail client like Outlook or Gmail.

The Notes and Threads are then tracked by the replies a user makes and the association of friends with the user. So you only get to see the threads you have started, participated and the ones your friends have created and participated in your main streams (Home & Friends). Optionally you can follow the public stream where every single conversation that is taking place in Twittaw is tracked. But you don’t need to do so if you don’t want to.

Twittaw also offers the best possible experience for your conversations by allowing you to style your notes and comments, link-embed your pictures and videos or link out fully to any content without the need of forcing you to a certain amount of characters or the use of url shorteners. You also count with editing for both notes and comments, the ability to automate the way you respond to a certain comment in a thread, load any user notes in Twittaw and finally be able to translate notes or comments that are not in your native language so you can talk with someone in your native language without you knowing the other person language and viceverza.

The name Twittaw comes from the fusion of the words Twitter and Rejaw. The reason for Twitter having anything to do with the name is because Twittaw uses the Twitter API for user instant login via Twitter ID, Friends Association via Twitter List and to integrate Cross-Posting for Twittaw activity to Twitter if the user desires so. If not, every single note or comment stays at Twittaw. Secondary to the Twitter ID, Twittaw can also work with a Google Account.

Twittaw can work in any Desktop Browser, Smartphone Mobile Browser and SSB. But It is specially optimized for it use with OS X Mobile in the iPhone/iPod Touch, for Fluidapp in OS X and Bubbles for Windows (Both SSB App Managers).

Twittaw 1.0 was released officially in January 14 of 2010. It’s creation dates back only two weeks back as it started with the dawn of the year.
